ONGC proves more gas offshore western India

NEW DELHI, IndiaONGC has discovered gas in the Saurastra offshore region of India’s Mumbai basin.

Exploratory well MBSO51NAA#2 was drilled in NELP block MB-OSN-2005/1 to a depth of 2,505 m (8,218 ft). During a test, a sandstone interval (2,462-2,465.5 m, or 8,077-8,089 ft) in Daman sands of Oligocene age flowed 95,275 cu m/d (3.36 MMcf/d) of gas and 72 b/d through a 3/8-in. choke.

The find adds to the gas established in two earlier discoveries in the block, close to GK-28/42 and other Tertiary discoveries in nearby NELP blocks.
