US Gulf of Mexico rig count falls to 17

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count fell by two to 17 over the past week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Aug. 5, 2016.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count fell by two to 17 over the past week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Aug. 5, 2016. That number is down by 20 year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US GoM rig count, which was also down by two to 17. That metric is down by 21 year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by one week-over-week at 464, with oil rigs up by seven to 381, gas rigs down by five to 81, and miscellaneous rigs down by one to two.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is down by 420 rigs, with oil rigs down by 289, gas rigs down 132, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.
