MOSCOWRosneft has issued updates on its exploration programs offshore northern Russia and Vietnam.

During the first half of the year the company began 2D and 3D seismic acquisition over the Albanovsky andVostochno-Pribrezhny license blocks in the Barents Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk.

It is now preparing for full-scale exploration in license blocks in the Laptev Sea, East Siberia Sea, Chukchi Sea, Kara Sea, Barents Sea and the Black Sea. This will include 2D and 3D seismic surveys, airborne gravity and magnetic surveys, geochemical and site investigation surveys.

In partnership with Statoil, the company has started drilling two exploration wells in theMagadan-1 and Lisyanskiy areas of the Sea of Okhotsk under a financial carry arrangement, using specially adapted drilling equipment.

During April, Rosneft began drilling of an extended-reach horizontal development well drilled from shore into the Lebedyanskoye oil and gas condensate field in the Sea of Okhotsk. The well, completed last month, had a measured depth of more than 5,000 m (16,404 ft) and a start-up flow rate of more than 400 b/d.

The company plans a total of three horizontal production wells in lengths from 5,000-7,000 m (16,404-22,966 ft).

In 2Q, the semisubmersibleHakuryu-5 completed a program for operator RN-Vietnam, discovering gas/condensate at the Wild Orchid field in block 06.1. The associated reserves and commercial potential remain to be confirmed, although there is potential synergy with facilities serving the nearby Lan Tay platform, also operated by RN-Vietnam.
