Statoil orders Johan Sverdrup bridges, ups stake in Utgard

Statoil has contracted Rosenberg WorleyParsons to fabricate three bridges and two flare towers for the four-platform Johan Sverdrup complex in the Norwegian North Sea.

STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has contracted Rosenberg WorleyParsons to fabricate three bridges and two flare towers for the four-platform Johan Sverdrup complex in the Norwegian North Sea.

Value of the order is around NOK 600 million ($72 million).

Construction and assembly will be performed mainly in Stavanger, supported by other Norwegian and international sub-suppliers.

A bridge between the riser platform and the drilling platform and a flare tower for the riser platform will be delivered in 2018, with the remaining two bridges and the flare tower for the processing platform to follow in 2019.

Combined weight of the three bridges will be 4,700 metric tons (5,181 tons), and their combined length will be 260 m (853 ft).

Statoil has also agreed to acquire JX Nippon’s 45% operated stake in the UK North Sea license for theUtgard field close to the median line with Norway.

Assuming approval for the transaction Statoil will increase its holding inP312 to 100%, having previously acquired interests late last year from First Oil and Talisman Sinopec.

Utgard, formerly known as Alfa Sentral, is a gas and condensate field that Statoil plans to develop as a tieback to existing infrastructure serving the Sleipner field on the Norwegian side.

The company aims to take a final investment decision for Utgard before the end of this year, with production start-up in 2020.
