HOUSTONSevan Marine subsidiary HiLoad LNG and Technip co-presented the HiLoad LNG parallel loading system (PLS) at OTC last week.

The system employs theHiLoad LNG unit for station keeping and Technip’s cryogenic flexible aerial pipes to transfer LNG from a FLNG floater (either a Sevan Marine cylindrical unit or a ship-shaped alternative) to a conventional LNG plant with no modifications necessary.

The combination of the HiLoad LNG and Technip’s proven cryogenic pipes was simulated last year at MARIN’s testing facilities in the Netherlands. The simulation demonstrated the system’s ability to maintain vessel separation of 100 m (328 ft) or more in rough environmental conditions and with a minimum length for the LNG transfer lines.

It follows a two-year, non-exclusive development cooperation between Technip and HiLoad LNG, with Technip paying for studies performed during 2014-15.

Sevan adds that the HiLoad LNG PLS can also be used with other transfer solutions such as a floating cryogenic hose.
