OSLO, NorwayPGS, TGS, and Schlumberger WesternGeco will jointly undertake a multi-client seismic acquisition program offshore Sabah.

This region is an extension of theBrunie Baram Delta play, in an active fold-and-thrust province with numerous proven hydrocarbon accumulations.

To date, the main exploration target has been Miocene deltaics with some younger Pliocene. However, as exploration and drilling progresses into deeper frontier waters, there is potential for new plays in the carbonate and syn-rift section.

PGS says modern, high-resolution broadband 3D seismic is needed to understand both the existing concepts and the new potential plays.

The consortium plans to apply a mix of technologies including multi-sensor acquisition usingPGS GeoStreamer and WesternGeco IsoMetrix marine isometric seismic technology, PGS towed streamer EM technology, and advanced broadband 2D acquisition and processing techniques.
