HOUSTON – Statoil has awarded Baker Hughes an eight-year contract to design and supply production chemicals to the Norne and Aasta Hansteen field developments in the Norwegian Sea.
The contract includes a four-year extension option.
Ruben DeVelasco, vice president Upstream Chemicals for Baker Hughes, said. “By combining our expertise with the right technology, we believe that we can help increase production and maximize profits throughout the life of the fields.”
Statoil developed Norne using an FPSO, and has tied back numerous satellite accumulations over the years. Original estimates suggested the Norne field would be shut down in 2014, but maintenance and technology advances mean it should now remain in service until 2030.
Aasta Hansteen is the first deepwater development in the Norwegian Sea. Production is set to start in 2017 through a spar platform, and continue beyond 2030.
