Baker Hughes to supply Johan Sverdrup well services

Statoil has contracted Baker Hughes Norway to provide integrated drilling services for the Johan Sverdrup project in the central Norwegian North Sea.

STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has contracted Baker Hughes Norway to provide integrated drilling services for the Johan Sverdrup project in the central Norwegian North Sea.

Estimated value of the six-year contract is NOK 1.5 billion ($183 million), with a four-year extension option for the entire field life.

The service will be provided locally from Stavanger.

For theJohan Sverdrup field Statoil has decided to invite the market to tender for integrated services in order to reduce total well costs and achieve more efficient well services.

Baker Hughes’s Stavanger office will provide services for cementing and pumping, completion,drilling and completion fluids, and offshore handling of drill cuttings.

Drilling on the field will start next year. Statoil will establish an integrated operations team with Baker Hughes, working with drilling and rig contractorOdfjell to plan and optimize well deliveries.
