Total, Statoil to appraise North Sea discoveries

Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has sanctioned three appraisal wells in the central Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has sanctioned three appraisal wells in the central Norwegian North Sea.

Total E&P Norge will drill wells 25/6-5 S and 25/6-5 A on production license 627 in block 25/6, using the semisubmersibleLeiv Eiriksson. Both are designed to test the potential of the Skirne Øst discovery. 

Drilling is expected to start next month, and could last up to 50 days, pending a discovery.

For Statoil, the semisubSonga Trym will drill well 15/6-13 Gina Krog East 3 in block 15/6 in PLs 029B and 303.

The operation should start in April, again lasting up to 50 days, depending on the outcome.
