LONDON – Rockhopper has applied for acreage in the Mediterranean Sea offered under the first Croatian and Montenegrin licensing rounds.
Croatia’s government is due to announce awards later this month with Montenegro set to follow early next year.
Sam Moody, CEO of Rockhopper, said: “Participation in the Montenegro and Croatian license rounds provides potential low cost, early entry to highly prospective acreage in regions with proven hydrocarbons.”
In August the company completed the acquisition ofMediterranean Oil & Gas, which is a partner in the Eni-operated Guendalina gas field offshore eastern Italy.
Eni plans to drill a side track late next year to a well that is currently shut in following damage to the wellbore in 2012.
