NPD authorizes three wells offshore Norway

Maersk Oil has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) for exploration drilling in license PL 510 in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Maersk Oil has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) for exploration drilling in license PL 510 in the Norwegian Sea.

The semisubmersibleLeiv Eiriksson will drill wellbore 6406/6-4, the first on the license, after completing wildcat well 35/9-12 S for RWE Dea in PL 420. The location is around 35 km (21.7 mi) southeast of the Kristin field.

Det norske oljeselskap has NPD’s approval for two new appraisal wells on the eastern part of theIvar Aasen field in central Norwegian North Sea license PL 001 B, both to be drilled by the Maersk Interceptor in PL 001 B.

Well 16/1-21 S will be drilled first in the reservoir to the north, while 16/1-21 A will follow in the reservoir to the southeast.
