Statoil to plug Oseberg well

Statoil has consent from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to deploy the semisubmersible Songa Trym to permanently plug a well on the Oseberg field.

OSLO, NorwayStatoil has consent from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to deploy the semisubmersible Songa Trym to permanently plug a well on the Oseberg field.

Oseberg is in blocks 30/6 and 30/9 in the northern Norwegian North Sea.

Well 30/6-B-51 AH is a subsea well tied to the Oseberg A facility. It was drilled in 1996, but has not produced since 2007, following integrity problems.

Statoil has allocated 45 days for the program, which is due to start this month. Water depth at the site is around 105 m (344 ft).
