FARNBOROUGH, UK – OptaSense, part of the QinetiQ Group, and Shell International Exploration & Production BV have delivered the world’s first permanent fiber-optic distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) in-well production flow monitoring system in North America.
The DAS-Flow system provides on-demand wellbore flow measurements along the entire wellbore, providing real-time views that can be used to optimize oil and gas production.
Sensor reports are sent through a secure network system, giving the asset team a better and faster understanding of well flow performance without the need for any well intervention activity.
