STAVANGER, Norway– ACE Winches has introduced its latest technology – reel drive system (RDS) – at Offshore Northern Seas. RDS ranges from 150 metric tons to 500 metric tons and deploy and recover subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines, mooring wires, and power cables.

The ACE Winches RDS is programmable logic controlled (PLC) and can be automatically adjusted to accommodate multiple reel sizes up to a 12-m (39-ft) diameter while eliminating the need for manual handling.

Before the end of 2014, the firm will provide a 400-metric ton RDS for a client’s pre-lay mooring line installation in Nigeria.

The modular systems will be located at the company’s new 2,000-sq m (21,528-sq ft) Karmsund quayside facility, enabling clients to benefit from faster mobilizations and the ability to transport the RDS equipment in individual components to assemble onsite. It can mobilize, demobilize, and conduct spooling and bollard pull test operations directly from the quayside.

ACE Winches is exhibiting in the Scottish Pavilion in Hall J at stand 916/3.
