EV opens world’s first downhole video technology center

ABERDEEN, UK – Downhole video technology specialist EV has opened a new technology center to house its research and development, and the company is expected to invest nearly £2 million ($3.3 million) in the center over the next year.

EV, which provides downhole video applications for the oil and gas industry, opened the new center at its base in Norwich, UK. It represents a world first in a center completely dedicated to downhole video, and will facilitate all of the company’s ongoing research and development. EV plans to invest £1.8 million ($3 million) in R&D in the next year, with several product launches scheduled for 2014.

Features of the new 2,137-sq-m (23,000-sq-ft) facility include warehouse space and a lab featuring the ability to test camera technology to 175°C (347°F) and 20,000 psi.
