LONDON – EnQuest says its Cairngorm appraisal well in the UK North Sea encountered a 173-ft (53-m) hydrocarbon column, according to initial analysis, with evidence of good reservoir properties in the fractured granite.
Based on results of the previous well and seismic interpretation, there could be a total hydrocarbon column of 797 ft (243 m).
The company also plans an appraisal well this year on the Avalon prospect, near the Scolty/Crathes accumulations, both of which could be developed through its newly acquiredGreater Kittiwake Area (GKA) production hub.
In the northern UK North Sea, ongoing work on EnQuest’sThistle life extension project include a control systems upgrade and simplification of processes, along with improvements to jacket and topsides structural integrity.
The company plans to add more wells in 2016-2017 to the 18 producers and seven water injectors in action on Thistle/Deveron.
Production optimization continues on the Don fields. The company expects to drill a new producer well before mid-year in Don Southwest Area 22 (TJ), followed by a maintenance shutdown this summer.
Recently the company was awarded an “out of round” license over the Don North East area for blocks 211/18e and 211/19c, including Area 23 and Area 24 and an undrilled extension to the Don NE field.
Within a year it aims to submit a field development plan for Area 24, which will include at least one producer well, providing additional opportunities to enhance Don’s area production.
At the Heather field in the same area, following reactivation of the platform’s drilling rig operations last year the company initiated a workover of the H56 well, which is due onstream in 1H. This will be followed by the side track of H44 as a new injector well in the B2 block, a side track of H48, and a workover of the crestal E-block producer H47.
Heather’s life extension project includes a three-year infill drilling campaign which will be split into two phases, while sharing the rig crew with Thistle, and a facilities upgrade. Initially nine wells will be drilled targeting 12 MMboe of reserves.
This spring a vessel will arrive atBumi Armada’s shipyard in Singapore for conversion to an FPSO for the Kraken heavy-oil field development in the northern North Sea.
EmQuest plans more appraisal west of the Kraken field later in the year to assess the area known as the “Western Feature.”
In 2H, installation is expected to get under way of subsea structures at the first drill center, where initial development wells will be drilled. During 3Q delivery should start of the hydraulic submersible pumps providing artificial lift. Detailed engineering, procurement, and manufacture for all equipment relating to wells, subsea infrastructure, and the FPSO will continue throughout 2014.
At GKA, EnQuest plans a workover program and to progress submission of a field development plan for the tie-in of Scolty/Crathes.
Finally at the Chevron-operatedAlba oil field, plans include two new production wells and acquisition of new 4D seismic survey, to help mature future drilling targets.
