MOSCOW– Gazprom has decided to relocate its Gazprom Dobycha Shelf subsidiary to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Sakhalin Island.

The company was formed in 2008 to specifically develop Gazprom’s offshore gas/condensate fields.

It will be renamed Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and will focus exclusively on Gazprom’s fields in the Sea of Okhotsk shelf offshore northeastRussia.

These include theKirinskoye field in the Sakhalin III project, the location for Russia’s first subsea production system. Commercial gas production is due to start this year from Kirinskoye, and elsewhere in Sakhalin III exploration is under way at the large Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field and the Ayashsky and Vostochno-Odoptinsky blocks.

Gazprom plans to establish a new subsidiary in Murmansk, Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Murmansk, to manage the group’s operations in the Barents Sea off northwest Russia, including phases 2 and 3 of the Shtokman project.
