Gazprom pursuing more gas offshore Sakhalin for next LNG plant

Offshore staff

MOSCOWGazprom says work on its Vladivostok-LNG project in the Russian Far East is progressing on schedule. The facility will have annual throughput of at least 15 MM tons, with the first train due to be commissioned in 2018.

Talks are under way with potential customers in the Asia/Pacific region. To prepare a resource base for project, the company will this year commission the Kirinskoye field offshore Sakhalin.

Later this year and in 2014, four exploratory wells will be drilled at the offshore Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field in preparation for a commercial development.

Elsewhere in the region, Gazprom plans large-scale 3D seismic surveys and other wells on the Ayashsky and Vostochno-Odoptinsky blocks within the Sakhalin III offshore project.
