Nexen adds further satellite to Golden Eagle in North Sea

Nexen Petroleum U.K. has approval from Britain’s government for the Solitaire development in the central North Sea.

UXBRIDGE, UK – Nexen Petroleum U.K. has approval from Britain’s government for the Solitaire development in the central North Sea.

The location is in block 14/26a, 2.5 mi (4 km) northeast of the company’s ongoingGolden Eagle area development project.

Nexen plans one subsea production well on the 8-MMbbl Solitaire field. This will be connected to theGolden Eagle northern manifold via an umbilical, a production flowline, and a gas lift flowline.

Detailed design engineering is under way with installation set to start mid-2014, followed by first oil in 2015.

Nexen has a 36.54% operating interest in both projects, the remainder held by Maersk Oil North Sea UK (31.56%), Suncor Energy UK (26.69%), and Edinburgh Oil and Gas Ltd. (5.21%).
