Statoil to operate license offshore northeast Greenland

Statoil, in partnership with ConocoPhillips and Nunaoil, has been awarded block 6 under the East Greenland licensing round.

STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil, in partnership with ConocoPhillips and Nunaoil, has been awarded block 6 under the East Greenland licensing round.

Block 6 is offshore northeastGreenland. Statoil will have a 52.5% operating interest. The license carries a 16-year exploration period.

Initially, the partners will focus on seismic acquisition. Statoil has already performed shallow core drilling and scientific work in the area to improve understanding of the operating environment.
