Norway adds Barent Sea blocks to latest license round

The Norwegian Ministry of Energy has opened the APA 2024 offshore licensing round.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Ministry of Energy has opened the APA 2024 offshore licensing round.

Under the annual awards in predefined areas (APA) process, oil companies can apply for acreage in mature areas of the Norwegian shelf.

This year, a further 37 blocks or part-blocks have been added, 34 in the eastern Barents Sea and three in the north-west of the Norwegian Sea.

Deadline for bids is 12 noon, September 3. New licenses should be awarded at the start of 2025.
