NEWCASTLE, UK – FES International has won a contract to supply four high-pressure fluid swivels for Total’s Moho Nord project offshore Republic of Congo.
This involves development of the Marine 2 and 3 discoveries in the north of the Moho Bilondo license, around 75 km (46.6 mi) offshore and in water depths ranging from 650-1,100 m (2,132-3,609 ft).
FES is providing the swivels for use as part of a workover riser system. They will allow for relative rotations between the riser and the workover rig, and the swivel must therefore maintain the same orientation relative to the drill floor.
The main challenge will be to design the swivels for a high internal pressure while working at a combined axial load and bending moment.
