BEIRUT, Lebanon – The Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water has extended the deadline for bids for Lebanon’s first offshore licensing round to Jan. 10, 2014.

The month-long extension is due to the Lebanese Cabinet’s delay in issuing decrees related to delineation of the offshore blocks, and the model exploration and production agreement.

Of Lebanon’s 10 offshore blocks, blocks 1, 4, 5, 6, and 9 are open for bidding under this round. However, more could be added after the cabinet session convenes to ratify the two decrees.

Pre-qualification for the first license round closed on March 28, 2013.Fifty-two companies submitted applications.
