MOSCOW – Lukoil has started drilling in block SL-5-11 offshore Republic of Sierra Leone using the Eirik Rauderig. The well depth target is more than 4,700 m (15,416 ft) and the location is in more than 2,000 m (6,560 ft) of water.

Block SL-5-11 covers 4,022 sq km (1,553 sq mi) on the shelf and continental slope of the Atlantic Ocean with the water depths ranging from 100 to 3,300 m (328 to 10,842 ft). Both 2D and 3D seismic data were acquired on 1,500 sq km (579 sq mi), which lead to the identification of several prospects.
