    AWE takes interest in Otway basin exploration area

    AWE (ASX:AWE) has farmed into a 60% working interest in Vic/P67 offshore Victoria, Australia, from WHL Energy (ASX:WHN).

    SYDNEY, Australia –AWE (ASX:AWE) has farmed into a 60% working interest in Vic/P67 offshore Victoria, Australia, from WHL Energy (ASX:WHN).

    The permit, in Otway basin, holds the La Bella gas discovery and a number of exploration targets. It also is adjacent to Vic/P44 and its producingCasino gas project.

    Under the agreement, AWE will pay 75% of the cost, up to $9 million, for a 3D seismic survey covering 811 sq km (313 sq mi) that is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2014.
