STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Results from the latest appraisal well on the Johan Sverdrup field offshore Norway were generally positive, said operator Lundin Norway.

The semisubmersibleBredford Dolphin drilled well 16/3-6 in the eastern part of the structure in license PL501. It delivered an 11.5-m (38-ft) oil column in good-quality Upper Jurassic sandstone. The reservoir rests directly on granitic basement.

Data-gathering consisted of a comprehensive coring and logging program, including a log-inject log wireline run for EOR screening. A pressure gauge was installed in the hole to monitor reservoir pressure over two to five years.

Bredford Dolphin will next drill well 16/4-7 for Lundin in PL544.
