Lundin starts drilling wildcat in Norwegian North Sea

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisubmersible Bredford Dolphin has spudded Lundin Petroleum’s latest exploration well in the Utsira High area of the Norwegian North Sea.

Well 16/4-7 in license PL544 will target the Biotitt prospect, 35 km (21.7 mi) south of Lundin’s Edvard Grieg field development and 46 km (28.6 mi) southwest of the Johan Sverdrup field.

The main aim is to prove hydrocarbons in Jurassic sandstone reservoirs. Lundin estimates potential resources in Biotitt at 124 MMboe. Drilling is estimated to last around 35 days.
