GODALMING, UK – Hurricane Energy has opted to postpone a horizontal well planned this summer on the Lancaster discovery west of Shetland.

The company had contracted the semisubmersibleGlobal Arctic III, but delivery of the rig would have been delayed, leaving insufficient time for Hurricane’s drilling and testing program ahead of the winter season. It has therefore canceled the contract.

CEO Robert Trice said: “We now turn our attention to operations for 2014 to pursue the further exploration, appraisal, and development of ourassets west of Shetland.”
