CNOOC adds to success in Bohai wildcat drilling

HONG KONG –CNOOC (NYSE:CEO) has two discoveries in Bohai.

The Bozhong 8-4-4 well was completed at 1,962 m (6,435 ft) and encountered 50 m (164 ft) of oil pay and 11 m (36 ft) of gas while producing 660 b/d of oil. Bozhong 8-4 is on the western slope of the Bozhong Sag in 28 m (92 ft) water depth.

The Kenli 10-4 area is in the south slope of Laizhou Bay Sag in Bohai, with an average water depth of about 15 m (49 ft). The discovery well, Kenli 10-4-1, was completed at 2,395 m (7,856 ft) and encountered oil pay zones with a total thickness of about 45 m (148 ft). During the test, oil production was 2,800 b/d.

CNOOC has a series of Bohai Bay finds, includingLiaodong Bay, Qinghuangdao, and Pengali, among others.
