PARIS – Statoil (OSE:STL; NYSE:STO) has awarded Technip (PARIS:TEC) a contract for pipelay and subsea installations at the Snøhvit CO2project in the Arctic.

Technip will fabricate and install two 5-km (3-mi) flowlines and one 5 km-CO2 injection line; install and tie in spools, jumpers, and umbilicals; and install a new combined production and injection template and manifold.

The project will be executed by Technip’s operating center in Oslo, Norway. The flowline will be welded at Technip’s spoolbase in Orkanger, Norway, while installation will be performed by theApache II in the first half of 2015. Installation of the associated umbilicals, template, manifold, spools, and other subsea equipment will be performed by vessels from Technip’s fleet.

Snøhvit is approximately 140 km (87 mi) northwest of Hammerfest in Norway, in the Arctic Circle, and has been in operation since 2007. CO2 from the gas production is separated onshore and reinjected into the field.
