GOTHENBURG, Sweden – MMT Group and Reach Subsea have signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture in offshore survey operations.

The two companies, working with Kystdesign, have developed a new-generation high speed survey ROV “Surveyor” – the first unit is expected to be built this year, and ready for offshore operations in 2014.

The proposed new venture will provide services including offshore survey, lay support, seabed mapping and pipeline/structure inspections from a chartered DP-2 vessel. The emphasis will be on cost efficiency, flexibility, and providing higher quality data than might be offered elsewhere.

MMT and Reach employ a total of 300 staff, with offices in Gothenburg, Haugesund in Norway, and Banbury in England. Their joint fleet comprises seven vessels, seven ROVs and two ROTVs with further units to be delivered next year.
