STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The subsea template and manifolds have been installed at the Brynhild field in the Norwegian North Sea, says operator Lundin Petroleum. These will be connected to four wells tied back to the Shell-operated Pierce field infrastructure on the UK side of the North Sea median line.

The jackupMaersk Guardian will start development drilling after completing an exploratory well for Lundin on the Carlsberg prospect in Norwegian license PL495. Topside modifications on the Pierce FPSO are expected to start this summer when the FPSO heads to shore in Scotland. First production from Brynhild is expected this fall.

Elsewhere in the Norwegian North Sea, Lundin is a partner in the Bøyla field which operator Marathon is developing as a 28-km (17.4-mi) subsea tieback to its Alvheim FPSO. There will be two production wells and one water injector with drilling slated to start in late 2013. Fabrication has started of the subsea structures.

The Alvheim field remains at a high production level following two new infill wells last year, although two already producing wells had to be shut-in in January due to well integrity issues. They will be worked over in the second half of 2013 and are expected to re-enter service early next year.

OffshorePeninsular Malaysia, Lundin has operating interests in four licenses.

Conceptual studies for a potential development of the Bertam discovery on block PM307 are largely complete, and a final development decision will be taken this year. A 3D seismic survey has been acquired recently over the northern part of the block and over the southern part of block PM319.

Lundin expects to appraise the 300-bcf (8.5-bcm)Tembakau gas discovery as part of its next offshore Peninsular Malaysia drilling campaign. It also plans one exploration well this year offshore Sabah.
