Fairplayer prepares for North Sea Alma/Galia mooring

Jumbo’s heavy-lift vessel Fairplayer is in Rotterdam preparing for a subsea installation on EnQuest’s Alma/Galia fields in the UK central North Sea.

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands– Jumbo’s heavy-lift vesselFairplayeris in Rotterdam preparing for a subsea installation on EnQuest’s Alma/Galia fields in the UK central North Sea.

The vessel will install the mooring spread for theEnQuest Producer FPSO, 310 km (192 mi) southeast of Aberdeen.

Fairplayerwill make full use of its large deck space and two onboard 900-ton mast cranes. All additional equipment, such as the pile driving template, hammer and ROVs, will be placed onboard during mobilization. Post-mobilization the vessel will make only two voyages to the offshore location.

Under the first voyage, Jumbo will transport the anchor piles and bottom chains to the field. There, theFairplayer will install the anchor piles using the template, hammer, and ROVs. Bottom chains will then be pre-tensioned and laid out on the seabed.

For the second voyage, the vessel will load various reels with spiral strand wire and the top chains. Offshore the crew will connect the chain and wire and place them on the seabed to be picked up for the FPSO hook up.

Jumbo is main contractor for theEnQuest Producer installation project, with Boskalis Offshore subcontracted for the tow-out and hookup.
