South Pars platforms on alert following earthquake

All of the South Pars field offshore platforms and related processing facilities onshore in Assaluyeh are said to be secure, following the strong earthquake that struck Bushehr province in southern Iran.

TEHRAN, Iran – All of the South Pars field offshore platforms and related processing facilities onshore in Assaluyeh are said to be secure, following the strong earthquake that struck Bushehr province in southern Iran.

Crisis committee spokesman at Pars Oil and Gas Co. Mazaher Ansari added that personnel at all the facilities remain on full alert due to continuing aftershocks. The committee continues to monitor the situation.

The epicenter of the 6.3 magnitude earthquake was the town of Kaki, 60 mi (96 km) southeast of Bushehr on the Persian Gulf. At least 37 people were killed and one village destroyed.
