DUBLIN, Ireland – San Leon Energy continues to seek partners to explore the Durresi block offshore Albania.
The block contains the Alban structure, with prospective resources of 3.2 tcf (91 bcm) of gas and 145 MMbbl of gas condensate, says San Leon. Other identified prospects and leads on the block could potentially hold reserves of up to 2 Bboe.
San Leon has hosted a data room for interested parties, and is keeping it open longer than scheduled to allow further time for more detailed technical evaluation, and to accommodate new entrants.
Last year, the company completed pre-stack depth migration of 840 sq km (324 sq mi) of 3D data over the block.
In 1994, the A3-1X exploration well was drilled close to the center of the Alban structure, encountering a 55% sand/shale ratio in the pre-evaporitic Upper Miocene section.
Strong amplitude anomalies show at least three sand sections with 110-155 m (361-508 ft) of thickness separated by thick shale zones. Strong mud gas shows appeared in nearby similar sections during drilling of the well. The seismic responses are all constrained by faults.
San Leon is performing further re-interpretation and amplitude versus offset analysis of the data on Alban and other prospects.
The Durresi block is on the Apulian Margin and on trend with Tertiary gas and Mesozoic/Tertiary oil discoveries in the Italian Adriatic Sea. Alban is in 150 m (492 ft) water depth with a reservoir target range at 1,500-2,500 m (4,921-8,202 ft) subsurface.
A gas discovery conceivably could be exploited via theTrans Adriatic Pipeline from Azerbaijan to Italy, the route of which is scheduled to run through the Durresi block.
