San Leon Energy has received the first final processed volumes from last year’s 840-sq km (324-mi) 3D seismic survey on the company’s Durresi license offshore Albania.

Western Geophysical processed the data in London, focusing on detailed structural imaging incorporating relative amplitude preservation for the detection of subtle stratigraphic prospects on the flanks of the complex structural setting.

In the company’s office in Warsaw, San Leon’s Albania subsurface team is processing new 3D and existing 2D and 3D seismic looking for stratigraphic traps in conjunction with continued detailed subsurface analysis.

Initial results of the new interpretation have led to identification of several new large oil and gas prospects across Durresi’s numerous petroleum systems. These could hold unrisked prospective recoverable resources of more than 1 Bboe.

Six source rock intervals have been located with several potential oil reservoirs anticipated in Mesozoic carbonates and flysch, along with various gas reservoirs in the shallower Tertiary clastic deposits.

San Leon has recently signed confidentiality agreements with several large E&P companies regarding farm-ins to the license, and continues to receive unsolicited interest from other large players.

It has opened a data room, with several companies already visiting. San Leon aims to drill the first of two planned exploration wells on the block in late 2012/ early 2013.
