Salamander spuds wells offshore Indonesia in North Kutei basin

Salamander Energy Plc has begun drilling the South Kecapi-1 DIR and DIRA wildcat wells offshore Indonesia.

LONDON –Salamander Energy Plc has begun drilling the South Kecapi-1 DIR and DIRA wildcat wells offshore Indonesia. The wells are in the North Kutei basin of East Kalimantan in the Bontag PSC.

The DIR well is programmed to 2,450 m (8,036 ft.) TVD subsea. Upon completion it will be side tracked 1.5 km (1 mi.) west with the DIRA hole to 2,100 m (6,999 ft.) TVD subsea.

The drilling targets a series of stacked Pliocene/Upper Miocene sandstones.

Drilling is in 388 m (1,273 ft.) water depth with theOcean General semisubmersible.
