Salamander engages Diamond semi for Indonesia wells

Offshore staff

LONDONSalamander has contracted the Diamond Offshore semisubmersible Ocean General for exploration drilling offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The rig has been taken under a timeshare arrangement approved by BPMIGAS, the executive agency supervising upstream oil and gas activities in Indonesia. The aim is to reduce costs of mob-/demobilization, supply chain, shorebase warehouse, and waste management.

Salamander expects to take the rig during 4Q 2012 for a campaign on the North Kutei basin Bontang and SE Sangatta PSCs.

The company will drill the South Kecapi well and side track, and the North Kendang and Bedug prospects. It has options for more well slots under the contract for follow-up drilling in the event of success.
