Managing director Mahmoud Zirakchianzadeh told news service Shana the total volume injected has risen in recent years from 200,000 b/d to 420,000 b/d. Following commissioning of several new projects next year, this rate will increase by a further 110,000 b/d.
Two of these projects are in the Siri offshore region.
Zirakchianzadeh added that implementation of simultaneous water and gas injection at the offshore Doroud field should lift hydrocarbons recovery from 23% to 33%.
At the Salman field, where the recovery rate is more than 50%, water and gas injection have been in place for more than 40 years.
