LARNACA, Cyprus – Prosafe has agreed to a firm turnkey contract with Jurong Shipyard for construction of a second harsh environment semisubmersible accommodation rig.

The latest rig, to be namedSafe Zephyrus, is scheduled for delivery around the end of 2014. Like the Safe Boreas, presently under construction at Jurong, it will be a GVA 3000E design equipped with a DP-3 system and a 12-point mooring arrangement.

This will allow for operations in both DP and anchored mode. The unit will accommodate up to 450 personnel in single-man cabins. Estimated price, including yard costs, owner-furnished equipment, project management and financing, is about $350 million.

Jurong has also granted options for two additional newbuilds, for use either offshore Norway or worldwide (outside the North Sea). Additionally,Prosafe has an option for another rig agreed during signing of the first newbuild contract signed last December.
