BP appoints upstream chief executive

BP has appointed Lamar McKay as chief executive, upstream.

LONDON– BP has appointed Lamar McKay as chief executive, upstream. He will take up the position on Jan. 1, 2013.

He will lead the company’s upstream business, comprising the exploration, developments, and production divisions together with the upstream strategy and integration team.

McKay has a petroleum engineering background and has been with the company for 32 years. He most recently served as chairman and president of BP America.
