OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has authorized Eni Norge to use the semisubmersible Scarabeo 8 for an appraisal well in the Barents Sea.
Well 7122/7-6 will be the seventh drilled on production license 229, which comprises parts of blocks 7122/7, 8, 9, 10, and 7123/7.
In the same region, NPD has granted Lundin Norway a drilling permit for a firstexploration well in PL 490, to be drilled by the semisub Transocean Arctic. This license covers parts of blocks 7120/4, 7120/5, and 7120/6 and was awarded under Norway’s APA 2007 round.
Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has cleared Statoil Petroleum for two development drilling programs in the North Sea. One involves use of the semisubDeepsea Atlantic for side track drilling and completion of a new well on the Gullfaks satellites project, and for permanent plugback of the existing well. The program will start Dec. 4 at the earliest.
Elsewhere, Statoil has consent to use the jackupWest Elara for drilling and completion of 11 production wells and two injector wells on the Valemon field in the northern Norwegian North Sea. Water depth is 133 m (436 ft).
Production is scheduled to start in 2014, although drilling will continue through 2017.
Valemon is being developed with a production platform with a single separation process. The field’s rich gas will head through a pipeline to theHeimdal complex for export to the UK and mainland Europe, while the condensate will be transported via the nearby Kvitebjørn field facilities to the onshore terminal at Mongstad.
