    Marathon renews Archer North Sea offshore drilling deal

    Marathon Oil has contracted Archer to provide drilling, maintenance, and engineering services on the three platforms in the Brae field in the UK central North Sea.

    ABERDEEN, UK – Marathon Oil has contracted Archer to provide drilling, maintenance, and engineering services on the three platforms in the Brae field in the UK central North Sea.

    Archer has been working on the Brae Alpha, Brae Bravo, and East Brae installations since October 1993, allocating 30 dedicated personnel, but expects to add a further 80 minimum to meet planned operational needs.

    Although the current contract runs until 2017, there is an option for a further extension through 2022.

    Currently Archer has 16contracts for platforms in the UK North Sea with long-term fixed contracts up to 2017.
