LONDON – Serica Energy confirms progress on planning for its Columbus field development in the UK central North Sea.

The field, containing gas rich in condensates, extends from block 23/16f into block 23/21, operated by BG International and hosts the Lomond platform.

Under cost-sharing arrangements, the Columbus field participants (apart from BG) will be responsible for drilling two production wells, installation of subsea manifolds, and laying of a pipeline. This will take the two-phase gas and gas/condensate stream to a newbridge-linked platform (BLP), which BG will install next to the Lomond platform.

BG will be responsible for construction and operation of the BLP, and will provide access for production from Columbus through this and the Lomond facilities, with onward export through the CTAS and Forties pipeline systems.

The new infrastructure should be in place during the first half of 2015, with Columbus delivering first production shortly afterward.
