LONDON -- BG International will perform front-end engineering and design for a new platform in the UK central North Sea linking two third-party discoveries with the Lomond field facilities.
The new installation is to be bridge-linked to the BG-operated Lomond platform to receive gas and condensate from Columbus, operated by Serica Energy, and Dana Petroleum’s Arran (the new name for the Barbara and Phyllis fields).
Columbus, discovered in 2006 in block 23/16f, is proven to extend into adjacent block 23/21. The license holders of the two blocks have agreed to share the costs of the Columbus portion of FEED for the bridge-linked platform.
Under a separate agreement, they will also share the costs of Columbus’ subsea facilities and submit a development plan for the field to the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change, with a view to winning project sanction by year-end.
All FEED work should be completed by the end of this summer. Negotiations are advanced for use of Lomond as processing host and export point for the Columbus produced fluids.
Serica will manage the development process up to project sanction on behalf of the Columbus Owners, namely:
• Block 23/16f: Serica Energy (UK) (50%), Endeavour Energy UK (25%), and EOG Resources United Kingdom (25%).
• Block 23/21: BG International (83.333%) and Hess (16.667%).
