Chevron signs GE for Gorgon compressor service

Chevron Australia Pty Ltd has signed a 22-year, $600-million contract with GE to maintain compressor trains and associated equipment serving the Gorgon Project offshore northwestern Australia.

PERTH, Australia –Chevron Australia Pty Ltd has signed a 22-year, $600-million contract with GE to maintain compressor trains and associated equipment serving the Gorgon Project offshore northwestern Australia.

The GE Oil & Gas Global Services division will provide scheduled maintenance, resident engineering, monitoring and diagnostics, engineering analytics and a guarantee of production continuity.

GE’s first contract performance manager is scheduled to start work in Perth in October of this year.

The Gorgon Project is operated by Chevron and is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (47.3 percent), ExxonMobil (25 percent), Shell (25 percent), Osaka Gas (1.25 percent), Tokyo Gas (1 percent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 percent).

The Gorgon Project will develop theGorgon and Jansz/Io gas fields about 130 km (81 mi) off the northwest coast of Western Australia. It includes the construction of a 15 million ton per annum LNG plant on Barrow Island.
