LONDON – Serica Energy says its seismic operations are progressing as planned offshore Namibia.

The 10-streamer vesselPolarcus Nadia started the 4,150-sq km (1,602-sq mi) 3D survey in the Central Luderitz basin on May 10. On June 17, it passed the 1,500-sq km (579-sq mi) mark. The survey should continue throughout the next three months.

Data acquired to date has been of good quality, Serica adds, and should lead to fuller delineation of numerous potentially significant prospects that have already been identified.

BP backed into the license in March and is paying the full cost of the survey. Additionally BP has an option to acquire a further 37.5% interest by drilling and testing a well.
