LONDON – The 10-streamer seismic vessel Polarcus Nadia was in Namibian waters last week, ready to start an extensive 3D survey for Serica Energy in the Luderitz basin.

The vessel, owned by Polarcus, had sailed 3,150 mi (5,069 km) from Tanzania, and was preparing to deploy streamers for the 4,150-sq km (1,602-sq mi) survey in the southeastern part ofSerica’s blocks 2512A, 2513A, 2513B, and part-block 2612A.

The three-month campaign will beone of the most extensive acquired off Namibia to date, Serica claims. It is designed to:

  • Fully delineate a large four-way dip closed structure underlying the survey area

  • Demonstrate hydrocarbon potential through the presence of hydrocarbon indicators.

BP will cover the cost and earn a 30% interest in the license.
