Ithaca assumes lead role at Carna in North Sea

Ithaca Energy has completed a transaction giving it operatorship of the Carna gas discovery in the UK southern North Sea.

CALGARY, Canada – Ithaca Energy has completed a transaction giving it operatorship of the Carna gas discovery in the UK southern North Sea. The company now has a 32% interest, in partnership with Centrica (40%), Dyas (24%), and EWE Energie (4%).

Carna was discovered in early 2009 with a gas column of more than 1,490 ft (454 m) TVD and net pay of 127 ft (39 m). The well tested gas at a stabilized rate of 8.8 MMcf/d from a vertical well penetrating the Carboniferous.

Ithaca and its partners have agreed to accelerate studies, which could lead to submission of a development plan before the end of 2012.
