KKC to develop FEED for Hebron offshore development platform

ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) has awarded Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors (KKC) a contract for the gravity based structure (GBS) for the Hebron development off Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

ST. JOHN’S, Canada – ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) has awarded Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors (KKC) a contract for the gravity based structure (GBS) for the Hebron development off Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

KKC will be responsible for front-end engineering and design (FEED) and site preparation, and at ExxonMobil’s discretion subsequently provide detailed engineering, procurement, and construction services.

Hebron field will be developed using a concrete GBS production platform. This will be a reinforced concrete structure designed to withstand the combination of thetopsides weight, icebergs, and meteorological and oceanographic conditions.

The platform will be installed in 95 m (312 ft) water depth in the Grand Banks region, 340 km (211 mi) east-southeast of St. John’s and southeast of the Hibernia field.

Peter Kiewit Infrastructure and Kvaerner/Aker previously worked together on the Hibernia GBS project and the White Rose FPSO.
